Deacon Martin May was born and raised in Southern Indiana, and married his best friend Cathy in 1972, and their daughter was born in 1973. In 1974, he moved to California for a job opportunity, and worked for the same company for 28 ½ years. In addition to the previously mentioned states, Deacon Martin has also lived in Texas, Kentucky, and now Nevada.

He found the Old Catholic Church in November 2001, felt at home, and started attending regularly. As time went on, his faith began to grow, and he began to feel the call to serve. After an extended and intensive period of study, he was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in 2009.

Deacon Martin truly has the heart of a Deacon and is involved in numerous functions, ministries, and activities at Saint Barnabas, and in the community. From assisting Bishops and Priests, training new servers, updating the servers schedule, to baptizing believers, officiating the joining man and wife in holy matrimony, assisting with fundraisers, and praying for the sick. Through his service, Deacon Martin has been a blessing to the parish of Saint Barnabas and the Diocese of Saint Thomas.
