Deacon Gail Sparks was born in St. Louis, MO, and has one brother, Jim. She graduated from Our Lady of Mount Carmel kindergarten, Our Lady of Fatima Grade School, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and attended the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Most of her professional life was in Office Management and Human Resources at Seiler Instrument and Mfg. Co., Inc.

She and her husband Bob moved to Las Vegas in 2000, and after the tragic events of 9/11/2001, decided to look for a church whose beliefs matched their own. They found St. Thomas Catholic Church and first attended on Easter 2002. She became an Acolyte and Lector in May of 2010, began studies at Vilatte Seminary in 2011, became a Subdeacon on 10/17/2014 at Saint Thomas, and was ordained as a Deacon at Saint Barnabas the Apostle Old Catholic Church on 4/3/2016. She was a member of the International Order of St. Luke the Physician, a Ministry of Christian Healing, from 2012 to 2019.

Deacon Gail has two sons, Tom and Jeff, and one grandson, Tyler. She is involved in bringing Holy Communion to and visiting with the sick, praying with those who are in need of healing prayer, and assisting Deacon Martin with leading the Rosary. She hopes to serve at Mass again as soon as possible, after knee surgery.
